Song walkthrough video: Amos Keato – Some Dread Purpose (Fanu Remix)

Patreon class is in session!
Here comes a video (47 mins) walkthru of my recent
remix for Make Or Break,

šŸŽ„ Check it out on my Patreon šŸ“½

In this video, I’m talking about breaks, things relating to chopping them, what I look for in a break, some of the processing, bass stuff, how the song evolves and what I find important in song structures etc…
I find that especially in terms of song structures, there’s not a whole lot of info out there, so wanted to cover that once again as well.

I hope you find some useful nuggets here.

BREAKS & BEATS PODCAST #27

Breaks & Beats Podcast episode 27 out now.
And that bear hat is available now (three color options).
Mix is also on Mixcloud.

All about the breaksy DNB.
This may be one of the best episodes Iā€™ve ever done.
I primarily wanted to include lesser-known artists on this one.
I like to dig deeper and get the underground sounds from the real underground.
Want to support those doing banging stuff and help them get heard.

Some good free plugins!

Did someone say FREE?
Been a while since Iā€™ve made a list of some actually great free plugins that are worth grabbing.

Letā€™s take a look!

Also, in June, I want to do another song exclusive walkthrough video, and it’ll be about my recent DNB remix that I did for Make Or Break ā€“ let’s talk a bit about breaks soon.
That remix is something I did with Renoise, too, so let’s take a look at that: drums, some creative choices, synths etc.
Also, a video about doing a custom breakbeat is coming.

“Biscuits and Breakbeats” EP out

šŸŖ BISCUITS AND BREAKBEATS EP šŸŖ

Not one to collabo much, I teamed up with UK-based producer Larson Whiled to
1) discuss the importance of good tea in studio,
2) talk about the importance of good biscuits,
3) praise Luke Vibert’s discography,
4) get epic Bitwig collabos going, and
5) make some bassy breakbeat music as the result.

Itā€™s recommended that this EP be consumed while consuming your favorite tea (or coffee, as, I wonā€™t lie, this EP took tons of that, too!) and biscuits.

Time goes by fast when you’re doing fun things like making music.

This year, I’m happy (or just shocked) to say I’ve been making music for 30 years (started in 1992 with Octamed & Amiga).
One thing I’ll celebrate that with is releasing some of the oldest Fanu songs that still exist: all these were made in ’97’/’98.

So meet Old Tracker Stuff EP.

(Thanks to the then early internet, these were saved to the web as .xm tracker files)

These are from what still were quite formative years to me. I was trying to find out what I wanted to make, and I guess these already show were I was going. Continue reading Old Tracker Stuff out now
