The kind fellas over at Reddit’s edmproduction forum suggested I’d do an AMA (ask me anything) session, and we did. A lot of music-production-related talk. Check it out.

Here’s a thought relating to sub bass in bass music – i.e., music where the sub bass usually sits below the kick on the frequency range. This doesn’t apply to genres such as rock or house, for example, for there you may have your kick lower than your bass in general.
In bass music, we want to have our sub strong enough around 40–60 Hz area, because that’s where the meat is. Continue reading Production: get your sub bass right!!
I wanted to have a quick go at trying to create the classic “Reese” bass so widely used in and popularised by drum and bass (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out this classic DNB tune for a classic example).
The bassline could be created using any synth capable of doing sawtooths, but I happened to create it while playing with “Bassline” Continue reading Reese bass in Ableton Live
I figured out how you can edit the Lesson Text fields in Ableton Live. I created an empty project which will hopefully demonstrate to you, too, how it works. Download the Ableton Live lesson text hack project to find out how to do it.
Feel free to share this with other Abletonians, for this is actually a useful feature if you want to share your projects and add a bit of personal info about yourself, write info for a collaborator, do an informative set for a workshop, create a tutorial, etc.
Happy text-hackin’…get crackin’!
Just to give something back to the community…the bass-loving community!
This is a pack of bass sounds I’ve recorded from my analog Microbrute synth. It’s a small, monophonic beast that creates some pretty hefty bass sounds. The sounds in the pack are not anything super dirty, but they have nice (over)tones that will cut nicely thru your mix, and also, they should be something you can sculpt into many different shapes yourself.
